New fines for speeding

The front page of Emirates Today had an article about Dubai police planning to increase speeding fines up to Dhs 1,000. The new year hasn't even begun and they are already off to a good start! Such high fines will be excellent news and will make those budding Schumacher wannabees think twice before they try zooming down Sheikh Zayed Road in their deathtraps.
Better yet, automatically double the fine for anyone driving a sports car or four wheel drive, and triple the fine if the window tint on the offending car is greater than 30%.
Problem solved - no more reckless maniacs on Sheikh Zayed Racetrack trying to outdo each other in the level of stupidity their brains possess.

Do you think the police apply fines in Dubai impartially and consistently?

Not at all, but maybe that could be one of their New Years resolutions, hopefully.

do you have something against tinted windows or only ones that zoom past you at mega speeds?

The latter, and I suggested fining those with a greater than 30% tint because invariably they can afford to pay more.

Until rules are enforced without consideration for race/socio-economic status, there will always be individuals free to do whatever they choose to with impunity. Dubai doesn't look like it will change on that front. Nailpolish covering the same old nails..
