The Maze of the Madinat
I am convinced part of the 'mystery of Arabia' theme the Madinat Jumeirah tries to give off is to ensure all visitors end up feeling as lost as possible in the Madinat Maze, no matter how many times they've been there.
The signs are so small and unbelievably vague it is no surprise you see tourists milling about, with a look of fear and desperation in their eyes, wondering if they will ever find their way back out to their hotel room and warm beds. Then you have the odd one or two that are frantically running up and down the Maze in search of the nearest toilet. I have yet to see one with a trail of urine behind them so I take it they eventually find their way!
Perhaps it's a ploy by the owners of the Maze to keep us in there for as long as possible, so we throw up our arms in resignation, and max out the credit cards on all the worldly goods and meals for sale. Then of course it magically becomes possible to find the exit and you are left, several thousand poorer.

I think this is why Hotel California is such a popular song in Dubai's karaoke bars.
I reckon Sharjah's road sing system was designed by 'Hotel California'.
