Tempting fate

Were UAE experts tempting fate last week when they said Dubai was not in an earthquake-prone area and there was no cause for concern, yet they still ensured all new buildings could withstand them?
Just today, a tremor was felt in the country in the mid-afternoon. The scene in the office was hysterical. A (much hated by all) colleague had just stepped into the office when the tremor began. Initially, everyone assumed it was due to his thunderous, heavy footed entrance. But slowly, the realisation dawned upon them and there was a mad scramble out of the building, scarves and ties flying.

no one felt it in our office - our HR lady told us to calm down and that there is no need to leave the offices.

5 minutes later we found out that she was on her way home .. lol

Initial reaction was total confusion. I felt as if it was my imagination to see curtains in my room swaying in a totally impossible direction.

my supervisor told us that there was no need to panic... 30 mins later she was sheepishly heading out for a so called 'meeting' which would run for a while so she might not be back!!!!
