Dubai Dreams: Episode One

Who watched episode one of Dubai Dreams, the new BBC documentary? Part of it showed the Dubai World Cup - the world's richest horse race - and I was surprised to see how truly colonial Dubai looked at that moment. Affluent, well-to-do, largely Western expats milling about with lots of expensive drinks while the supposed underclass - the poorer Subcontinentals stood quietly below in far less plush surroundings as their 'masters' looked down on them from above.
