The Case of a Blocked Dubai Blog

Now that news of a popular, satirical blog on Dubai being blocked by the telecommunications monopoly that is Etisalat has made waves, the outcome of this story remains to be seen.

It is a pity that a country that prides itself on defining modernism by having glassy towers, artificial islands and tacky architecture with an obsession of having the biggest and best of everything fails when it comes to the simple issue of the right to express yourself freely. Perhaps what is sadder is that this particular blogger mentioned hasn't been the only one to be threatened.
